Before a first date, plenty of people quietly search the other person online. Plinq, a Brazilian startup, turns that instinct into a proper tool: women can search a potential partner's name and phone number against public court records and official government gazettes to check for criminal or legal red flags, all from a web platform.
Founded in 2025 by Sabrine Matos, Plinq launched its web platform in June 2025 and has already logged more than 60,000 users and nearly 85,000 searches. The company raised USD $254K in its first funding round, led by Spectra Investments, with participation from angel investors Anton Osika (cofounder and CEO of Lovable), Liana Selles (cofounder of Ella Wealth), Fernando Montero (founder and CEO of Doji), and José Gerardo Carrero (former IT director at P&G).
Plinq plans to use the funding to launch a mobile app in early September, grow its 10-person team, shift to a subscription model, and add new revenue streams through advertising and government contracts.
