Tomás Martins and Mauricio Villar, founders of Tembici

Tembici is a São Paulo-based bike sharing company with presence in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Chile. The company is Latin America's leading micro mobility company, having more that 21,000 bikes only in Brazil. It provides different types of bikes including e-bikes, mechanical bikes, hand bikes and cargo bikes, which are parked at designated stations throughout cities in Latin America. The users make use of a mobile app to unblock the bikes and pay an "unblocking fee" followed by a fixed rate per minute.

For 2023, the company founded by Tomás Martins and Mauricio Villar, is planning to provide bike sharing services in additional Brazilian cities like Belo Horizonte, Florianópolis and Curitiba. Tembici will also provide more bikes in cities like São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre, doubling its capacity in the latter, now offering 1,000 bicycles and 100 stations.

Tembici has recently released a feature that allows users to register themselves using their passport number. This measure is paving the way for international tourists to use the bikes as a more sustainable way of transportation when visiting Latin America, this is especially relevant considering that according to Embratur, more than 800,000 foreign tourists will visit Brazil during the summer of 2023.
