TripWip runs a peer-to-peer carsharing marketplace that lets everyday car owners in Uruguay, Argentina, and Mexico rent out their vehicles when they're not using them. A renter books a car straight from the app and picks it up directly from the owner, with each trip covered by one of TripWip's insurance partners — Sancor in Uruguay, Rus Seguros in Argentina, and AXA in Mexico — instead of going through a traditional rental agency.
The startup raised a USD $4.2M seed round, with participation from Latin Leap, CrossBoundary, Yango Ventures, Promotora Social de México, and Satrack Ventures, as well as OEM partners linked to Toyota and Kia, and angel investors who are current or former operators at Kavak, dLocal, Uber, PedidosYa, and Rappi.
TripWip says it has grown fourfold year over year, and now counts more than 150,000 registered users, over 3,000 listed vehicles, and more than 60,000 completed rental days. The new capital will fund expansion into Monterrey, Los Cabos, Mendoza, and Bariloche, along with investment in marketing, technology, and AI tools, as the company targets sixfold growth in activity over the next 24 months.
