Aviva Raises USD $18M Series A to Expand AI-Powered Microlending in Mexico

Aviva lends small amounts of money to workers and shop owners without a credit history, using AI-staffed kiosks to approve loans in minutes.

Aviva gives small loans — between $100 and $1,000 — to shop owners and workers across Mexico who don't have access to loans from traditional banks, usually because they work informally and have no credit history for a bank to check. Instead of paperwork and long waits, applicants walk up to a physical kiosk, talk with an AI-powered video assistant, and find out within minutes whether they qualify and how much they can borrow.

The company has raised USD $18 million in a Series A round led by Valor Capital Group, with participation from BID Labs, Caravela Capital, Endeavor, and existing investors Wollef, Ignia, Krealo, and Newtopia.

Founded in 2022 by four former Konfío employees, Aviva currently operates in more than 300 small and mid-sized cities across 23 of Mexico's 32 states, and says over 300,000 people have used its kiosks. With the new capital, the company plans to grow to 1,000 locations, add new loan products, and expand its technology team.
